FCPS Students To Participate In National Disability Mentoring Day

Forty-five Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) students will participate in a day of job shadowing and hands-on career exploration with 14 local businesses on National Disability Mentoring Day, Wednesday, October 20.
National Disability Mentoring Day is designed to promote career development for students with disabilities by matching the students with a mentor based on their career interest areas. The FCPS students will spend the day with their mentor on the job, learning the requirements for working in specific fields.
Students from the following schools will participate: Annandale, Centreville, Chantilly, Falls Church, Herndon, Langley, Madison, Marshall, McLean, Mount Vernon, Oakton, West Potomac, West Springfield, and Westfield High Schools, Hayfield Secondary School, and Cedar Lane School.
Businesses participating in National Disability Mentoring Day include the U.S. Geological Survey, Booz Allen Hamilton, Metrocall, Fairfax County Government, Maximus, Northrop Grumman, Club Pet International, Chantilly Auto Body, Franklin Farms Veterinary Clinic, the Fairfax County Sheriff’’s Department, Lockheed Martin, Red Lobster, and the Fairfax County Health Department (two locations).
